Chittagong Port Bay Terminal -Administrative Building

Chittagong Port Bay Terminal -Administrative Building

Project Overview

The Administration Building at Chittagong Bay Terminal emerges as a landmark institutional structure defined by its fluid, wave-like facade articulation. The building’s form appears sculpted by maritime forces, with continuous horizontal bands and vertically arrayed fins creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that shifts throughout the day. These vertical louvers not only reinforce the rhythmic aesthetic but also function as environmental screens, mitigating solar heat gain while maintaining transparency and outward visibility. The curvilinear massing softens the scale of the large administrative volume, lending it a sense of movement that resonates with the coastal context. Integrated sky gardens and planted terraces introduce biophilic elements, enhancing microclimate and visual relief within the structured grid of fins. The podium’s solid, earthy-toned base anchors the composition, while reflective water features in the foreground amplify the building’s sculptural presence. Overall, the architecture communicates institutional authority through innovation—balancing expressive form, climatic responsiveness, and symbolic reference to the maritime identity of the bay terminal.
