Chittagong Port Bay Terminal- Gate Complex
Project Overview
The gate complex of the Bay Terminal at Chittagong Port presents a powerful architectural response to infrastructure at a monumental scale. The elongated, aerodynamic roof canopy creates a unifying horizontal datum that visually anchors the vast entry sequence while symbolizing motion and maritime dynamism. Repetitive inclined structural ribs not only provide rhythmic articulation but also express structural efficiency, reflecting the industrial character of the port. The sweeping arches at both ends act as iconic gateways, establishing a strong identity visible from a distance and reinforcing the terminal’s civic presence. Functionally, the multi-lane arrangement beneath the expansive canopy ensures smooth vehicular processing, integrating logistics, security, and circulation within a coherent architectural language that merges utility with landmark expression.
